Julian Kashdan-Brown

MSc     MA     RIBA

Qualifying in 1991 as an Architect with a specialist qualification in urban design, Julian worked initially in the private sector for Building Design Partnership in London, and then Company of Designers and DKA in Bath. This was followed by over 17 years experience in the public sector for North Wiltshire and then Wiltshire Council where Julian led the multidisciplinary Urban Design team. While working principally in the historic environment of Wiltshire, Julian gained a further qualification in the Conservation of Historic Buildings.

Julian was lead designer and project manager for a significant number of public realm projects in the Wiltshire market towns of Chippenham, Malmesbury, Calne, Cricklade, Corsham, Wootton Bassett and Bradford-on-Avon. In addition to implementing these complex schemes to introduce high quality materials into busy town centre shopping environments, other projects overseen include schemes in villages, historic building alterations, cycleway construction, utility works, soft landscaping and play areas, as well as negotiating improvements in the design quality of development proposals across Wiltshire.

As an Architect, Julian can provide a full range of architectural services for smaller scale domestic, public or commercial projects; from inception and scheme design to detailed design, tendering and construction contract administration. Julian's specialism in conservation is particularly useful in bringing the right skills and experience to projects involving existing and historic buildings and structures. As an Urban Designer, Julian has extensive experience of producing master-plans and development briefs for larger sites. Julian's conservation expertise means he also has significant experience in producing design and planning guidance for historic areas including Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans.
